2015 Vermont Licensing Ordinance
The Vermont Office of Professional Regulation does not intend to pursue unlicensed practice cases against Property Preservation Contractors.
On July 1, 2014, the state of Vermont passed a law requiring individuals who offer property inspection services to obtain a license to practice in the state. Vermont Title 26: Professions and Occupations; Chapter 19: Property Inspectors states that property inspectors are required to be licensed after attaining 80 hours of required training.
NAMFS’ Government Relations Committee requested information from the Office of Professional Regulation to ascertain how this law impacts default mortgage property inspectors in the state of Vermont. Per the letter, “The Office of Professional Regulation will not use its scarce enforcement resources to pursue unlicensed practice cases against bank or credit union employees or contractors when they were never the intended target of this legislation.”
